What 's Involved ?
You will be picked up at your hotel lobby and taken to the air conditioned classrooms where you will go through the theory sections of the PADI Open Water manual. For each section you will watch a video before completing a short quiz- don't worry it's not too difficult! Then around midday a break for lunch.
01.00 PM - 05.00 PM
In the afternoon, you will go to the swimming pool to put into practice what you have learnt in the morning. Your instructor will show you how to assemble your scuba gear and perform a buddy check before entering the water. Once you feel comfortable under the water we will start going through the confined water diving skills. This prepares you for the two open water dives the next day. The day normally finishes around 5pm, but if you require more time to practice in the swimming pool or need some more time in the classroom then this is not a problem.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:30am- please wait in the hotel lobby. The air-conditioned minibus will then transfer you to the daytrip boat at Chalong pier. After a short briefing on the boat and the facilities on-board by your instructor, it is time for some freshly prepared breakfast prepared by the boat crew. Your first dive is to a maximum depth of 12 metres and for a maximum time of 50 minutes- you will be amazed at how quickly time goes by under the water. You will be amazed at the variety of marinelife that you will see- from the magical manta rays to the famous clown fish (Nemo).
After the hot buffet lunch, it's time to prepare for your second open water dive. Your instructor will give you another briefing as you and your classmates are required to demonstrate a few dive skills. Once the skills are out of the way, you will have plenty of time to explore the reefs and practice your buoyancy. At the end of the dive back onboard the boat, you will clean your equipment before relaxing in the sun with your instructor and celebrating your new qualification as a PADI Scuba Diver!
Just like Day 2, we will collect you from your hotel at 7.30am and transfer you to the day trip boat at Chalong pier- please wait in the hotel lobby for the minibus. We will be going to another dive site surrounded by coral reefs to complete the final two dives of the PADI Open Water course: the dives will to a maximum depth of 18 meters. Open Water dive 3: On this dive, you will show your instructor just how well you've learnt by showing a few of the dive skills both on the surface and underwater. You should be feeling a lot more comfortable and confident as well so your instructor will take you to a maximum depth of 18 meters. You will still have time to explore the fantastic reefs and be amazed at the wide diversity of marine-life we have in Phuket.
After lunch, it is time for your second dive of the day, and final qualifying dive for the course. On this dive you will demonstrate to your instructor your buoyancy skills and general diving ability. After completion of the required skills there will be time to continue exploring the reef and building up your experience underwater. Back onboard the boat, it's time to fill in your log book and debrief you on the dives before celebrating your qualification as a PADI Open Water Diver with your instructor and fellow classmates.
