Day 1: Classroom and Pool
Morning- (8am - 12 noon).
You will meet your Instructor at our dive centre in Patong and go through the first three sections of the PADI Open Water manual.
This will be conducted in one of our air-conditioned classrooms at the dive centre.
For each section you will watch a video before completing a short quiz- don't worry it's not too difficult!
Afternoon- (1pm - 5pm).
This is where the fun really begins- as in the afternoon you will go to the swimming pool to put into practice what you have learnt in the morning.
Your instructor will show you how to assemble your scuba gear and perform a buddy check before entering the shallow water. You'll then take a bit of time to get used to the feeling of breathing underwater- there really is nothing quite like it!
Once you feel comfortable under the water the instructor will demonstrate, and you will copy, the confined water diving skills required for certification. This prepares you for the next two days of open water dives.
The day normally finishes around 5pm, but if you require more time to practice in the swimming pool or need some more time in the classroom then this is not a problem.
Morning- 7:30am pickup from your hotel.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:30am- please wait in the hotel lobby. The air-conditioned minibus will then transfer you to the daytrip boat at Chalong pier.
After a short briefing on the boat and the facilities on-board by your instructor, it is time for some freshly prepared breakfast prepared by the boat crew.
Open Water dive 1: This is a fun dive with no skills, just floating around weightlessly taking in the underwater beauty of Thailand, to a maximum depth of 12 meters and maximum time 50 minutes.
You will be amazed at the variety of marinelife that you will see- from the magical manta rays to the famous clown fish (Nemo).
After an hour or so surface-interval, it is time for your second dive of the day, which like the first is a maximum time of 50 minutes and a maximum depth of 10 meters. On this dive you will perform a few dive skill exercises with your class mates and the instructor.
Once the skills are out of the way, you will have plenty of time to explore the reefs and practice your buoyancy.
Once you are back on the boat we will go through the cleaning procedures of the dive equipment and then relax in the sun maybe with a cold beer, while we haed back to the pier in Chalong.
Morning- 7:30am pickup from your hotel.
Just like Day 2, we will collect you from your hotel at 7.30am and transfer you to the day trip boat at Chalong pier- please wait in the hotel lobby for the minibus.
We will be going to another dive site surrounded by coral reefs to complete the final two dives of the PADI Open Water course: the dives will to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
Open Water dive 3: On this dive, you will show your instructor just how well you've learnt by showing a few of the dive skills both on the surface and underwater. You should be feeling a lot more comfortable and confident as well so your instructor will take you to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
You will still have time to explore the fantastic reefs and be amazed at the wide diversity of marine-life we have in Phuket.
After lunch, it is time for your second dive of the day, and final qualifying dive for the course. On this dive you will demonstrate to your instructor your buoyancy skills and general diving ability.
After completion of the required skills there will be time to continue exploring the reef and building up your experience underwater.
Back onboard the boat, it's time to fill in your log book and debrief you on the dives before celebrating your qualification as a PADI Open Water Diver with your instructor and fellow classmates.
