The PADI Junior Rescue Diver Course will build upon what you’ve already learned up to Advanced Open Water to expand your knowledge and experience teaching you to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers.
Although this course can be intense, it is a great way to build your confidence and helps you identify potential problems and gives you the know-how on how to handle them if they do.
“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Junior Rescue Diver course.
The
Junior Emergency First Response (EFR) course gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies-- not just in the diving world, but in your every day world with your family, friends, neighbours and co-workers too.
This non-diving course is conducted at the dive centre and through a combination of independent study and skill practice with your EFR Instructor, you’ll build the confidence and skills to provide basic emergency care in any situation.
During the course you will learn:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR and rescue breathing at the layperson level
- AED (automated external defibrillator) use
- Preventing and caring for shock
- Spinal injury management
- Use of barriers to reduce disease transmission risk
- Basic first aid and first aid kit considerations
In combination with the new PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty, you will be fully prepared to take on the challenging PADI Junior Rescue Diver course.
This is the first day proper of your PADI Junior Rescue Diver course and you will learn how to think like a rescue diver- that is someone who is aware of their diving surroundings and can make good judgement in emergency situations. With your instructor, you will learn to read the signs in yourself and others of potential problems and learn the skills necessary to remediate.
These skills are then practiced in confined water to allow you to fine-tune your technique so that become second-nature to you.
The third day of the course is conducted in open water.
We come and collect you from your hotel lobby and transfer you by one of our air-conditioned mini buses to our day trip diving boat.
Your PADI dive instructor will be waiting for you on the boat, and after a short briefing on the boat and the facilities on-board it is time for some breakfast which will be freshly prepared for you by the boat crew.
